For old-fashioned school, we read a book about log cabins and the chapter from Little House on the Prairie where they build their cabin. Then we got out the Lincoln logs from the attic and got to work. Lincoln Logs can be a little frustrating if you are used to blocks that stick together, but we finally got our roof to stay on. We only had to rebuild it four or five times with it got destroyed by Hurricane Beatrix. At first, I thought the project was a bit of a flop, but then we got out our TRIO blocks and added to the scene. Over the day, Ella built an entire "Old Storage Village" with cabin, barn, animal pens and a stage coach.

Strawberry Shortcake and friends moved in, but not before they were outfitted with Mama-made sunbonnets.
