Overheard

The girls have been amusing me lately by narrating all the stage directions to their pretend play. Since they are always playing characters, they refer to themselves as she and then describe what they're doing. They do this constantly. For example, Mabel might say, "She twirl-ored into the room and jumped on the ground," or Ella might say, "She walked bravely up the stairs to find the horse."

or it may go something like this...
E: "Well, I think I might have to sell the farm. Half my hogs have already run off. She jumped on her horse Thunder and rode off.
Galloping back into the room. "Yeah, it's not looking good. All the hogs are gone now...Wait, maybe I can throw a cowgirl fair and save the farm!"

or as Mabel plays Mama Dinosaur
Mabel: "She sat on her eggs to keep them safe them from the creditors"

Also Ella has taken to using baked goods as preschool expletives such as "Holy Canoli" and "Darn it Donuts!"
